Unsculpted is a day full of experiences and activities to guide you back to your playful and creative heart. The act of creation can get so twisted up in our judgments of what constitutes ‘good’ that we completely lose touch with the joy of creating for the sake of exploration, humour, and collaboration. Not your typical sculpture class, this isn’t about learning to sculpt with skilled technical expertise. This workshop will expand your creativity, just not in the ways you might expect!

Do you remember building a fort as a child? Using whatever materials were at hand to create an environment where anything was possible? Using your imagination to re-tool the available materials and then choosing with care the objects that deserved to reside inside? Exuberant enthusiasm for the pure joy of creating and loving the results!

Primarily using the techniques of modelling and assemblage, we will spend the day creating with that same sense of possibility, adventure and imagination. Working in three dimensions expands your spatial awareness, increasing your understanding of your body in place and space. Creating with unexpected materials can lower our inhibitions, giving us access to the playful experience of creating purely for the sake of creating.

Throughout the day we will deliberately cultivate the qualities of creativity; curiosity, openness to the unexpected, imagination and collaboration. This day is full of fun, playful, challenging and inspiring activities to get your creative neurons firing again.

This one-day workshop runs from 10am to 4pm with a one-hour lunch break.
